Isha (They/Them) is an Ayitian-American post-disciplinary artist and founder of Black Freedom Fellowship; an international incubator amplifying and resourcing the genius of Black and Indigenous artists and activists under the core belief that freedom is our earth-right. They are also the founder of Odù Film Festival - an international 2-day art festival biennale that launched in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil in 2023 forwarding the voices of Queer, Black, and Indigenous creative activists. In this discussion, we will discuss the creation of the Black Freedom Fellowship; the importance of Black sovereignty in our Black feminist world making; radical solidarity as praxis; how Ayiti has and continues to shape contemporary Black resistance; and more.

About Isha Rosemond: Isha created the Black Freedom Fellowship the way they believe Black womxn* have always created things: out of love, vision and necessity. Isha (They/Them) is an Ayitian-American post-disciplinary artist whose artistic and curator practice uses somatic poetry to explore the distance between colonial documentation and African Diasporic truth-telling.

Isha is also the founder of the Black Freedom Fellowship; an international incubator amplifying and resourcing the genius of Black and Indigenous artists and activists under the core belief that freedom is our earth-right. As the founder of the Black Freedom Fellowship, Isha is also the director of the Odù Film Festival, an international 2-day art festival biennale that launched in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil in 2023 forwarding the voices of Queer, Black, and Indigenous creative activists. They also direct the Black Freedom Fellowship Rest & Research Residency that brings together Black & Indigenous creators from around the world to exchange tactics for liberation and to create the futures vital to our collective survival.
