Jazzie Collins (September 24, 1958-July 11, 2013) was an African-American social and economic activist and leader who fought on behalf of the Black and LGBT communities, rights of seniors, and people with disabilities in San Francisco. An an openly HIV positive transgender activist and organizer, Collins advocated for various communities and initiatives. She was one of the original members of Queers for Economic Equality Now (QUEEN); was the Vice Chair of San Francisco’s LGBT Aging Policy Task Force; and was the Vice Chair of the LGBTQ Senior Disabled Housing Task Force. Jazzie's Place, a San Francisco LGBTQ Homeless Shelter, was named in honor of Collins' legacy and activism.
